**Grok Bot** is xAI's new AI agent platform, launched in **August 2026** as an early beta. The term has two meanings, and the newer one now dominates.
## The primary meaning: xAI's always-on AI agent
Grok Bot is a **computer-use AI agent** — instead of just replying in a chat window like a normal chatbot, it can **operate a computer for you**: navigate websites, enter data, and complete multi-step tasks on its own, even after you step away.
Key features (from the [official xAI announcement](https://x.ai/news/introducing-grok-bot)):
- **A computer of its own** — Each Bot runs on a persistent, always-on virtual computer in the cloud (with its own browser, file access, and logins), so jobs keep running 24/7 even when your device is off.
- **Message it like a teammate** — You chat with Bots from your phone or desktop like you'd text a colleague, and hand off work.
- **Work with many Bots at once** — You can run multiple Bots in parallel (e.g., a "chief of staff" managing specialists for inbox, expenses, recruiting, bug fixes, ops). Bots can message each other and coordinate in group chats.
- **Teach-a-task** — You can screen-record yourself doing a workflow once, and Grok Bot turns it into a repeatable skill with no code or API setup.
- **Memory & learning** — Bots remember conversations, learn how you like things done, and get sharper over time.
**Availability:** In beta for SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus, and SuperGrok Heavy; Cursor Pro/Pro+/Ultra; and Cursor Teams Standard/Premium subscribers, on desktop (macOS, Windows, Linux) and iOS (Android planned). It comes with its own separate usage that doesn't count against your Grok/Cursor plans. Enterprise users can join a waitlist. There is no free tier.
## The older meaning: Grok the chatbot
"Grok bot" was also a nickname for **Grok**, the AI chatbot made by xAI (the company founded by Elon Musk). This is a generative large language model that answers questions, writes text, generates images, and searches the web and X in real time. It appears in several places: the Grok app and grok.com, the **@grok** account on X (which replies when you tag it), inside newer Tesla vehicles as a voice assistant, and via the xAI API. **Quick way to tell them apart:** if a page describes an assistant that *operates a computer for you*, it means the new agent; if it describes *chatting or tagging @grok*, it means the chatbot.
Note: The exact pricing tiers and availability details are evolving quickly (the product is in early beta), so it's worth verifying current details on [x.ai](https://x.ai) and [cursor.com](https://cursor.com).
